Mateusz Bartel

Mateusz Bartel was born on January 3, 1985 in Warsaw. He gained the International Grandmaster title for the victory he got in the under 18 European Championship in 2003. His peak rating by FIDE is 2658 and his position is 93. Learning chess may not have been out of will but out of a condition. He got chicken pox that made it difficult for him to go anywhere. His brother too was affected and so they had to help each other learn the game as a way of keeping themselves busy and that way he got the skill that he has today. Then they entered a chess club in Warsaw, Polonia. He began to represent his country in the Chess Olympiad in 2006 known as the Turin Olympiad. He played on the fourth board and got 5/10. In the following year, 2008 he played the third board in the Dresden Olympiad and managed a score of 4/7. In 2010, he attended the Khanty Mansiysk Olympiad where he played on the forth board scoring 7 points out of the nine available games. This score brought him a silver medal. In 2007, he went for the 16th Monarch Assurance Isle of the Man International tournament and had a tie from the 1st to the 6th position. In 2012, he went for the Aeroflot Open and he won the event though there was a tie. He is very accomplished since he has won the polish Chess Championship for several consecutive years, namely 2006, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
